Cherry Stampka: Yes, I was. I can remember the first commercial transistor radios

Darwin Ecton: Yes..I remember when the clicker box thing came out that could turn the TV off & on,& could change Chanels..That was a huge thing! But,in reality,Tesla invented the remote control far before I was born.Tesla was the greatest inventor of all time,& his inventions were way before his time....Show more

Gale Hartt: I was around before most people had ever heard of television and there was no telephone STD connection - the operator connected you out of area.We listened to Dick Barton, Paul Temple and "The Man in Black" on steam radio, gramophones came with a needle which had to be changed, typewriters were manual "Imperials", cars still had starting handles and some still had "crash boxes" (no syncromesh gear boxes) that was the first car I drove, milk and coal were delivered by a horse-drawn vehicles, there were "pig bins" on the corner of every street for disposing of f! ood waste (like potato peelings), no Sunday opening of shops (it was illegal) and no public playing of games like football on Sunday, the Dog Licence was seven shillings and sixpence per annum, petrol was 3 shillings (15 pence) a gallon, the egg ration was 1 egg per person a fortnight and cheese 2 oz per person a week. Bathwater was rationed to 5" depth per person (nobody I knew had showers or central heating). The street lights were lit by a man on a bike with a long pole to turn them on....Show more

Robbie Starchman: Yes..phone cords..tv always had a remote although it was different.~*
